My story
For as long as I can remember, I've been a bridge.
My bicultural identity as a Miami-born, Dominican-raised woman allows me to build connections across communities. My multi-passionate gifts that span mental, physical, and spiritual teachings bring alignment between the body and the mind. My tolerant presence from growing up alongside a sibling with a disability blessed me with the experience of widening bonds of humane possibilities.
In a world of injustice and isolation, I'm here to create connections between reality and magic because I need it to survive and thrive. Between mind and body, teacher and learning, and nature and self. I'm here to be a bridge in places once deemed impossible. I believe in magic because it helps transform, heal, and liberate souls.
I grew up in the bustling and hustling capital city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a city that has given its back to the Caribbean Sea, despite its favorable location. Escapes to all-inclusive resorts in paradise were my childhood outlet into nature and the beginning of a great friendship with the big old blue. Fortunately, while I was in high school, my older brother opened an eco-tourism business that would go all across the country, bringing people to the most remote and pristine spots of the Dominican Republic. His company gave me a brand new definition of what tourism and exploring nature looked like in the raw. He taught me how to be a tour guide off the beaten path, and I started working freelance with him on all my available weekends. It opened up a whole universe of possibilities regarding what the world had to offer me and what my life could look like one day.
As a conceptually creative person, I chose to study architecture, but this ended with the arrival of the apocalyptic pandemic of 2019, when I chose to move to Playa Bonita and unravel a new chapter in my life. Three weeks before the world stopped, I was at a one-week silent retreat, and one of my conclusions was that I wanted a life full of joy and adventure and to be a yoga instructor. So when everything came to a halt, and we all got a chance to reevaluate our lives, these thoughts echoed in my head.
For three months, I meditated, visualized, and finally took drastic action to the demise of my family.Years before, in Santo Domingo, my mom had introduced me to the local donation-based yoga program at the park. I started surfing when I was 20 years old, and yoga felt like a natural complement to the sport. I carried a tense body from architecture stress and sore arms from all the paddling against the current, so I dove into yoga seeking to loosen up my life. I dreamed of going to India after graduating instead of doing a master's degree, and I felt more comfortable in the yoga studio than in the architecture studio.
That summer of 2020, I quit architecture, moved to my favorite beach in the Dominican Republic, Playa Bonita, took a waitressing job in front of the surf, and signed up for a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Online. It's the best decision I've ever made. On International Yoga Day for that year, Sunday, June 21st, I started teaching donation-based lessons, which were a hit! People began contacting me for private lessons. This opportunity allowed me to save up and muster up the confidence to work and travel in Central America for a year, freelancing and finding surf/yoga retreats and hotels to work in where I could learn about the business, gain new skills, and visualize myself hosting one day.
I love working with people and in nature. I'm a service-oriented, outgoing, empathetic go-getter. I'm versatile and keep a flexible attitude and positive mindset. If you find alignment in my values, I would love to hear from you.
